Champions League quarter-finals

The highly anticipated quarter-finals round of the UEFA Champions League will kick-off this week from April 12 as top eight teams of Europe will battle it out for their spot in the semis. While the quarters will witness most usual entrants clashing against some of their old rivals, the spotlight would of course remain on the debutants Leicester City as they take on Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on April 13.

Borussia Dortmund vs. AS Monaco, Tuesday 11 April, Westfalenstadion

Expect goals aplenty when Dortmund and Monaco meet in their double header, with both having broken goalscoring records in the competition this season.

BVB smashed the record for goals scored in a group-stage campaign when they topped their pool after netting 21-including eight in an 8-4 demolition of Legia Warsaw-with Gabon frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang influential as they finished ahead of Real Madrid.

Juventus vs Barcelona:

It is more than just a battle between the two greatest football clubs of all time. On one hand, there is the Barca’s possession-based style, while their opponent holds up a strong defensive line. Coming out of Champions League’s greatest comeback, the much-feared Barcelona will travel down south to the boot-shaped nation to face two time winners Juventus FC.

The young and inconsistent Dortmund side will be up against the attractive attacking style football of the French club, Monaco. Having eliminated the might Man City in the previous round Monaco might end up giving a tough fight to Dortmund. And with most for their stars missing out on injury, the German club will be stepping on with a lot of pressure to face their opponents despite home ground advantage.

Atletico Madrid vs Leicester City FC:

Amid controversies surrounding poor form and sacking of former manager Claudio Raneiri, the Foxes have leaped back to form under new manager Craig Shakespeare in their Premier League. And with relegation now a distant fear from Premier league champions, Leicester can safely travel down to Spain to face former runners-up Atletico Madrid. However, they do have a reason to worry- skipper Wes Morgan is out with injury. The Red and Whites who are definitely not at their best in their home season, have been rather ravishing in their Champions league run.
